- Aug 5, ā24:
1) Continued (from the past weekend) the rehearsals for my data.table
presentation, and especially focused on delivering the first few slides smoothly within a short period of time without speaking too fast or stumbling upon words. (9 hours)
- Aug 6, ā24:
1) Gave my talk, listened to very interesting/fun talks from Jonathan and Tyson, stood up for the discussant panel with Michael and enjoyed conversing with them into the late evening. (8 hours)
- Aug 7 - 9, ā24:
1) Communicated with a few data scientists, presenters, conference attendees, and recruiters. Attended a few other JSM sessions apart from ours. My favourite was the one from SDNS (Statistics in Defense and National Security) with speakers from Northrup Grumman talking about anomaly detection in satellite telemetry (something Iām familiar with from my work in NASA JPL) using an LSTM autoencoder. (15 hours)
2) Discussed reimbursement aspects with Lawson from NAU. (4 hours)
3) Necessary commuting. (4 hours)
